From One to Many

the prophecy: all nations shall be blessed through Abraham

The Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? Genesis 18:17-18

I was once presented with a really hard question. It actually was not a question, but a comment made in one of my literature classes when I was a student in college. One of my classmates said vehemently, “I cannot believe in a god who would choose one nation, and leave the rest to rot in hell.” So it was this statement that turned into a couple of questions for me, “Why did God choose the Israelites? Did he choose just the Israelites?” I had much to learn about Scripture myself at that point. Now as an older Christian, I’ve learned a few things that I can share here.
